Shay Elliott – Marshal Plan and additional information -2015

Categories: News,Up Coming Events

Dear Club Members,

Many thanks for your agreement to marshal on Shay Elliott race day Sunday May 10th 2015.

Some details ahead of the race Shay Elliott – Marshal Plan 7.5.15

Please arrange to be in the club house on Sunday morning for sign on from 9am – 10.00am (early as poss pls) and we will have the marshal briefing at 10.15am, races will start at 11.00 (SE) and 11.05 (SHA3).

The race day has been extended once again this year to incorporate the A3 race and as such we are expecting large numbers. If marshals could park in Shoreline Leisure and walk across to the club house (about 2 mins) it would be great to leave the available spaces for the riders around the club house area.

If you have a sweeping brush (preferably a yard brush) and flag of any description please bring these with you.

If you have a high viz jacket please also bring this. If you don’t have one don’t worry we have plenty in the club house. Whistles will also be provided by the club.

Packed lunch will be provided for all marshals.

Please find attached PDF files with all of the marshalling locations, route maps and club members who are allocated to each location. You may wish to contact your fellow club member and arrange to meet prior to the race and travel together.

In previous years marshals had plenty of time to move from one location to another. As we have extended the racing programme to incorporate a simultaneous A3 race times are really tight so once the A3 race has passed your initial designated spot please endeavour to reach your next appointed location as quickly as possible.

Please familiarise yourself with your location and the route over the coming days and if you have any queries please do not hesitate to give me a call, drop me a mail or bring the query up at the briefing on Sunday morning.

No video or digital recording of the cycle race is permitted by marshals during the event.

We have new members on marshalling duty this year for the first time so if you are not sure of something please ask, the only stupid question is the one you don’t ask. You will also find attached a copy of a CI produced document relating to marshalling issues.

Early forecast is mild with showers but as everybody who cycles in Wicklow knows be prepared for every eventuality.

We are extremely tight for marshals this year as ever so if you have a friend who would be prepared to help please bring them along.

Sincere thanks again for your help in making the Shay Elliott the premier one day race in Ireland and look forward to see you all on Sunday.

Apologies for the delay with the late e-mail we had a few late with drawls which meant large sections of the plan had to be rewritten.

Look forward to see everybody again on Sunday morning and on behalf of the club sincere thanks for your fantastic cooperation.

Yours sincerely,

Damian Doyle.
