Coaching

Bray wheelers will host a series of coaching evenings for all club members. Please click here for dates and areas covered. All coaching evenings will take place in the clubhouse @ 8pm and refreshments will be served.

Club Training

Club training spins will leave Kilmacanogue every Saturday and Sunday at 9.30am starting 14th January The 9.30 training spins are recommended for all members who intend racing open races or club races in 2012. Training groups will be formed to suit rider’s ability and training requirements. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BE MEMBERS OF BRAY WHEELERS AND CYCLING IRELAND OR I.V.C.A.


Tuesday Night Training

Tuesday night training will start @ 7.30 on 10th January from the kilmacanogue fly over. Due to the dangers associated with cycling at night all participants must be members of Bray Wheelers and Cycling Ireland or I.V.C.A. All riders must wear a reflective jacket/vest. All bikes must have a front and rear light.


Club Clothing

If you wish to order club clothing for the coming year, please print this form, and send it with full payment to: Larry Clarke, 27 Bayview Drive, Killiney, Co. Dublin, mobile: 087 244 7082, orders to be received no later than 25th January 2012. The deadline cannot be extended in order to get the order in on time for the season.


Beginner Spins Update

Due to the great success Bray Wheelers committee members will continue to run beginner spins starting from Kilmacanogue flyover at 9.45am sharp.
The spins will be ideal for all new and inexperienced members.
To best cater for the beginners the club committee and club coaches have decided to enforce an age limit for the beginners spin.
Everybody attending the beginners spin must be 13 years of age or older.
As a club we run a full calendar of events for our youth members and our club coaches feel that this is more suitable option for our youth members to progress with their cycling.

The Bray Wheelers A.G.M.

The Bray Wheelers A.G.M. will take place on Thursday 17th November @ 8pm in the clubhouse.
The 2011 committee would very much appreciate if all members both leisure and racing would make a special effort to attend.


Treasure Hunt Cycle

To celebrate the end of a very successful 2011 season with our racing members winning treasure in the form of prizes throughout the country at all age levels, we are going to hold a cycling treasure hunt for all club members.
DATE : Sunday 9th October
START: Bray Wheelers Clubhouse
TIME: Sign on from 9.30am First team of 4 start @ 10am. ( we will make up teams of 4 at clubhouse just come along)
DISTANCE: 25 Miles Route for treasure hunt. (finishing in Laragh and cycle back to Bray 42 Miles total)
Each team must have a digital camera/ camera phone to record their results from the clues provided. This is a free event for all Bray Wheelers. This event is not a race.


Bray Wheelers Youth Club Clothing

If you, or your child, qualifies for a free Bray Wheelers jersey, as detailed below, please come to the clubhouse this Thurs 1st Sept at 7.30pm to collect a jersey. With a view to increasing participation among youth members in Bray Wheelers, we are offering a free club jersey for youth members who participate in six or more Bray Wheelers cycling events, or open races on behalf of the club, (not including the Sprocket Rocket course). Funding for this was from a grant that was received and also from funds raised at the Paddy Martin Randonnee for the youth section. If you have taken part in six events this season, please contact Mark Loughran or
Mark Murphy If you have not had the chance to take part as of yet, you still have until the end of the year to take part in six events. The club youth spins will be on every second Sunday afternoon until the end of the year.


Clubhouse Clean Up

If any members are suffering withdrawl symtoms and wondering what will they do on thursday nights now that the club racing is over for another year, dont worry next Thursday september 1st from 7pm until 8pm the club are running a clubhouse clean up and all members are very welcome. The event will be split into groups with the limit group starting on the weed pull ( gloves will be required) the next group will start on cleaning the clubhouse floor and the scratch group will clean the kitchen.We hope to have a large attendance at this event as with all the club races this year, the more people working in the groups the faster they reach the chequered flag. This clean up is in preparation for the Joe Loughman Randonnee on September 11th.

Triathlon Coaching Morning

Bray Wheelers Cycling Club in association with Wicklow Triathlon Club are running a coaching morning for those who are taking part in the Focus Ireland Triathlon on Sunday 31st July 2011, plus others interested in Triathlon. It is aimed at those who are new to triathlon, or who have only done one or two triathlons. Experienced coaches will be on hand to help you plan what equipment you will need to bring on the day, for the swim, the bike and the run, and how to set up your transition area.

A.G.M.

The Bray Wheelers A.G.M. will take place on the 25th November in the clubhouse @ 8pm. We would like to see as many members as possible attend on the night. This is an opportunity for all club members to have a say in the running of their club.


SOCIAL NIGHT

An end of season social night will take place in Duffs bar main street Bray on 3nd December not the 2nd as previously mentioned. All Bray Wheelers and friends are invited to Irelands number one cycling pub, where they can enjoy a chat and a drink while admiring Ken's fine collection of cycling memoribilia.


CHRISTMAS RACE

The annual Christmas Fancy Dress fun race will take place on Sunday 19th December. Sign on from 10 am and race start at 11am. Lots of fun, food and prizes.


MOUNTAIN BIKE TRIP.

After a very successful mountain bike trip to Ballyhoura in October, Bray Wheelers are planning a return to the trails of Ballyhoura on December 28th and 29th . This trip is suitable for beginners and experienced mountain bikers. For more information please contact Will McCabe 0868199881

If any club members have a couple of minuites to spare they might visit the cyclingireland.ie website and take part in the members awards 2010. You can vote for club of the year.( Bray Wheelers) and Best domestic competitive event 2010 (Shay Elliott Memorial Race) The other categories are a lot more open and I'm sure people will have their own personal favourites.


SPROCKET ROCKET

We would like to say a big thank you to all the club members who helped out at the first day of the sprocket rocket cycling skills course. It was great to see over 50 children enjoying their day cycling with all the support. Thank you.

SUBWAY® Sprocket Rocket Programme

Cycling Ireland is about to launch a brand new youths cycling skills based programme called SUBWAY® Sprocket Rocket. The Sprocket Rocket Programme was originally developed by BMX Australia.
Sprocket Rocket is a foundation Cycling Skills Programme which focuses on delivery to youths aged 7 to 11 years old but can actually be delivered to anyone of any age. The SUBWAY® Sprocket Rocket Programme focuses on 4 main skills; Cornering, Pedalling, Braking and Balance.

It Starts with your attitude

On Feb 18th Bray wheelers will be hosting the third and final coaching night before the racing season comences. For this session we are delighted to have the services of Adam Kelly on board to give the talk. Adam is one of Bray Wheelers best cyclists, one of Ireland's top tri-athletes and a leading figure in coaching and personal fitness. The theme for the night will be "It starts with your attitude" All club members, racing and non-racing are invited to come along on Thursday February 18th at 8pm.


GOREY 3 DAY MEETING

An information meeting regarding the Gorey 3 day race will take place in the clubhouse on 11th Feb @8pm. All riders who intend riding this race are asked to attend this meeting. I know this is short notice but some issues have come up regarding licences and grading and as entries for this race fill up very quickly it is important to have this meeting sooner rather than later. TRACK DAY

On satuarday Feb 20th @ 10.30 Bray Wheelers will host an introduction to track cycling.This event is open to all senior and junior members (under18) This will also be an accredidation day for anybody who hopes to compete at track racing .Ger Ivory will be track coach on the day any quieries call Ger on 0879917090

Race Training Meeting For The 2010 Season

There will be an informal meeting in Bray Wheelers Clubhouse next Thursday 21st Jan at 8pm to discuss a structured training schedule for all club members who wish to race in the 2010 season. The meeting will be hosted by Ger Ivory and Mark Murphy, and the emphasis will be on Saturday and Sunday race training spins which will start on Sunday 24th Jan at 9.30am at the usual meeting place in Kilmacanogue.
If you plan on taking part in Open, Club or IVCA (vets) races I would advise you to try and attend this meeting as sensible training is essential for a successful season. It will also be an ideal opportunity for those new to racing to ask questions and get some sound advice from experienced racers.


St. Patrick's day Parade

Bray Wheelers have been presented with the opportunity to take part in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Bray this year. This is a great opportunity to promote the club in front of thousands of spectators. Obviously we would require a number of members to commit to taking part in this before we could agree to enter. Club Spins

At the AGM last night it was decided to revert to one spin leaving Kilmacanogue at 10.00am every Saturday and Sunday starting this Saturday the 21-Nov-2009. There will be a very quick stop at the Cullemore bends to split the group if it's too big
Can we ask everyone to please adhere to this stop. It was also decided to change the meeting point from under the bridige to the roundabout on the fly-over.


Sign on is from 9am-10am at the new Bray Wheelers clubhouse, with race start at 10.30am.
