On Sunday Cycling Ireland announced the selection criteria for the Olympic road race in Athens next August.The event was attended by the majority of the existing Irish team,the Olymioc gold medal winner Chris Boarman and Brays ambitious young riders with aspirations of riding Internationally.

Before selection criteria was announced all riders participated in a sixty mile training spin Lead out by Philip Cassidy a very experienced man of the Ras and proprietor of Cycleways.The training spin was followed by lunch which gave the younger riders a chance to converse with Irelands stars of the sport.Meetings then went on until early evening including a motivational speech by Chris Boardman and an explaination of budgertry allocation with the emphasis going to the under 23 age group and performance based selection for senior hopefuls.

Brays Chairman Herbie Monks was successful in his negiotaions with Cycling Ireland comitee in ensuring Bray will be hosting the biggest one day world ranked UCI event of the yaer on the Irish cycling calender The Shay Elliot Memorial Race which will be attended by many foreign teams and a strong irish team.This prestious race which will have a Bray team entered will further increase the clubs profile.
