Bray Wheelers, it is that time of the year again. It is time for you to elect the 2018 club officers and committee members who will be in charge of guiding the direction of the club through the coming year. There will be updates from the outgoing Chairman John Spain to recap his four years at the helm, from Club Secretary Mike Claffey and Membership Secretary Ian Murphy, and from Treasurer Jane Martin will give a run through the 2017 accounts.
This is a vital meeting of club members each year as it allows YOU to question activities of the club, review the accounts, to ask questions, and to voice your opinion on the direction that the club should take during 2018 on various items such as our weekend club spins, our spring and summer race leagues, the Shay Elliott, the Christy McManus and Roundwood GP, the Joe Loughman Memorial, the Cyclocross race, and the christmas races – there’s a lot happens!
As usual all members are very much encouraged to not only attend the AGM but to consider joining the committee for a year, in particular those that may not have been on the committee previously and may bring fresh ideas with them – though of course, all you old hands with crafty abilities to hold the wheel are very much welcome too! There was a new heating system installed recently so you are no longer required to bring your hot water bottle with you – Wednesday is a great time to check it out.
The AGM will take place this Wednesday, 29 November in the clubhouse, beginning at 8pm. For anyone looking to purchase some BWCC gear the club shop will be open in advance of the meeting from 7.30-8pm. Some BWCC socks or bidons always go down well as stocking fillers!
